disk size limit vista 64

, can you reword this please.

Are you talking about Basic and Dynamic Disks ? (Dynamic set ups have an approx 2000 Volumes).

The boot sector is at the opposite end of a Dynamic set up.

Or are you asking if Vista has a 2TB size Limit. ?

did you know vista has a disk size limit off 2000 and a bit Gig
it says use use diffrent disk format not MBR
No PC can boot from a volume larger than 2Tb, it's a simple limitation of the MBR format and the way the BIOS boots the system. On Vista and MS's server OSes you can have volumes > 2TB if they're formatted with a GPT/GUID partition table.

I'm on Vista 64 Home Premium and am trying to RAID 4 640gb, 2 partitions, 160gb and 2+tb. The OS won't allow the 2nd partition to initialise. One awkward way I found out was to boot up using the Vista install disk and create the partitions there but it would only allow 2tb max and the rest is unused. Anyone know what to do to get the full 2+tb?

You can't get the full size of that partition if you also want to boot from the same array.

To boot from it the array needs to have an MBR partition table which physically cannot support a partition of greater than 2Tb. Either take a disk out of the array or split the array into 3.
