My girlfriend mentioned she'd like to visit Disneyland Paris at Christmas time, apparantly her sister went a few years back and said it was really good, all lit up etc.

I was looking around at prices including getting the Eurostar there and back and it was working out at nearly £400 each for a weekend, found a coach trip which did it for around £210 so I was thinking of suprising her and booking the tickets. It would be around the 12th December, would all the Christmas lights be on by then?

Is Disneyland Paris actually any good? I've been to the one in California but it was around 6 or 7 years ago. Is it worth going or will I constantly be getting hassled by huge Mickey Mouses etc? :p I'm 19 and she's 18 if it makes any difference. Also has anyone been on any coach holidays before? I shouldn't imagine it'l take too long to get there but I get the impression they're all full of old people (not meant in a nasty way :o).

Cheers!

i went on new years and it was awful. ram packed, over priced, couldnt see **** because the lighting at night was soo bad and we had to queue for 15 minutes just to get some water. such a huge disappointment tbh.

we (the ex and I) did a coach trip. stayed for 3 nights over new years. cost us about £90 each believe it or not and paris itself was fantastic. it was only disneyland that was a let down. if you want to go to paris go the the louvre, up the tower, see the arch de triomphe, but for god sake dont bother with disneyland lol

Oh dear, not what I was wanting to hear really lol. Wasn't too bothered about doing Paris as well, perhaps save that for a seperate trip.

For that kind of money(if you book now) you can go to orlando.

And if you put another £200 each you could stay in New york for x-mas
how cool is that..

Disney is just for kids really. Theres not much there for adults. I went there a couple of years ago with an ex and her 2 kids. We spent a few days in france but just the 1 day at disney and it was a nightmare for me. We got there quite early at around 9am. Within a few minutes her and the kids spotted a sign for a firework display that they apparently knew all about and had full intentions of watching ....... starting at 11:30pm .... My first reaction was

"oh are we coming back here tonight aswell?" to which i got the group response of
"no .... we are staying......"
"but it doesnt START for 14 1/2 hours? We can't stay here for 15/16 hours?"
"yes we can"

Oh dear, Well this wasn't what i wanted to hear. I just presumed we would finish up at 4/5pm and go elsewhere for a meal. The icing on the cake was when i realised there are NO BARS! The only way you can have >A< drink is to order a full, and very expensive meal at 1 of the resturants. It was a very long day :(:(

France is a Lovely country, Don't spoil it by going to Disneyland. If you have to go to Disneyland then go to the real one, flights are cheap enough surely.

I've been to Disney Paris twice now, not at Christmas though, and thought it was great fun. Sure, it's not somewhere parents want to go, hence all the complaining above. I guess at the age of 19, you wont have developed into the full 'grumpy old man', so enjoy it while you still can. ;)

Christmas start in Novemember so everything will be decorated etc.

Christmas is my favourite time of the year to visit.

But avoid coach trips I can't think of anything worse then a coach trip.

I'm guessing your not in London by your location? then your best bet is flying or driving is easy and you get the bonus of cheap booze for Christmas on the way back.

As a tip its possible to save quite a bit of cash booking things seperatly, the Holiday Inn can have good rates and thats a free shuttle bus away.

For example use this link http://holidayinn.co.uk/orange to get the stop for only €74 per room per night with breakfast.

I have a year pass for Disneyland Paris. It's great fun when it's empty, but hell when it is not. I feel really sorry for the families who go there for a day at the weekend during the holidays and queue for hours to go on a couple of rides. December 12th might be ok as it's still before the school holidays - the Christmas lights should be on. If you can, try to arrange to get there on a weekday - Monday was always good for me.

Quite a few good rides there now and a car stunt show which is excellent. I wanted to hate it, but it's actually an impressive place. My girlfriend loves it too and we're both in our mid 20s :p

Edit - 12th looks like a good date.

I went over the summer and it was ace, just arrive before they open, then by the time the park is overcrowded you will have tried all the big rides using fastpass :)
I felt like I was 6 again:)
The food was awful though...

I went a few years ago (around 16-17) and I didnt like it at all! EVERY ride was practically for kids, and i'm not really interested in seeing big goofys walking around. I only liked about two rides which was a big moving simulation (of star trek i think) and a 3d cinema style honey i shrunk the kids.
