Are there any real benefits in replacing the cable that was supplied with the monitor by replacing it with an after market gold pinned type cable?

As above no, gold plated oxygen free cables made by unicorns inside their ice fortress were only ever useful during the analogue age (and even then their use was vastly overvalued), cables carrying digital signals get no real benefit from them, a DVI/HDMI/DP cable carrying a digital signal either works perfectly or it's broken, 1 and 0, more expensive ones just cost more that's the only difference.

I'm waiting for them to release RGB DisplayPort cables to go with my RGB coffee mug and RGB glasses.
