Display port to DVI adapter no signal

The Displayport on the card can only output Displayport signals and not digital/VGA signals. The adapter you bought is passive, meaning it only rearranges the pins but leaves the signal as it is, hence why you're getting nothing. You need an active adapter to change the signal to DVI in order to get it to work. The one Diagro posted is active as well as dual link, so it will work for you.

Cool, thanks all for the advice, on reading further I've read that they don't have to be USB powered and found this on

Think this will do the job ?

Remove the link, it counts as a competitor. As for the adapter itself, it looks like it should be able to do the job. However in the description:

Supporting resolutions up to 1920x1200, this compact device provides a simple solution for converting DisplayPort output for compatibility with existing DVI monitors, televisions or projectors.

This makes me wonder if it's actually single link DVI instead, dual link DVI can support bigger resolutions...

Yes that one is single link only so max 60hz at 1080p.

It has to be a usb powered dual link or nothing

Yup, managed to find the same model on the jungle, and on the photos, it says "DVI-D Single" on the packaging. Seems the one on the bay has the wrong description.

My monitor is only 1080p. This 680 is turning into a pain in the arse, don't fancy paying £80 to get 120 hz. Surely there's another way ?? While I was waiting for this card I stuck in my old gts 240, dvi 120 hz no problem . This card 3 mini hdmi and one display port, any other suggestions ?

What monitor do you have, does it not have a Displayport port?

I'm guessing this is your card then: http://www.kfa2.com/GTX680LTDOCv4.shtml

The GTX 680 has "Fast HDMI", but you may need a HDMI to Dual-Link DVI adapter for this, and even then I'm not sure if that will work as "Fast HDMI" just doubles the speed of the signal while Dual-Link DVI doubles the pins to effectively double up the bandwidth. Really, the only garanteed way I can see this working is just buying the expensive adapter.

On the ViewSonic site, it states that the HDMI port on the monitor is 1.4a. You may be lucky with it working via a direct HDMI cable.
