Display problem since going HD

Ive just got me a nvidia 260 gpu and went and got a hdmi cable. Since installing, ive noticed the letters etc on screen have gone rough looking or unsmoothed if you know what i mean. Im on vista and have a syncmaster 2494hm.
Please help to get it sorted for me

Try control panel/clear type tuning, adjust the appearance of your text from there. Should sort you out fine.

Its already set to clear type. This has only happened since installing the hdmi cable

Vista isnt seeing the monitor drivers. Its just saying generic monitor. Could this be something to do with it. Ive tried reinstalling the drivers but it just shows the same

What resolution is it set to? Could be that it's not your monitor's native resolution.

OK but have you tried adjusting the clear-type, there should be quite a few different settings to try.

Sorry for the delay, was busy yesterday. I'm using XP but should be the same or similar for you. Go into control panel/appearance & themes/clear-type. Left click on the Icon you should see this screen. Use the wizard or click advanced and adjust manually from there.
