Display resolution

I've just upgraded from a 4:3 to 16:10 Widescreen display, but my Mac Mini (Intel) only offers me 4:3 resolutions. My setup doesn't have working DDC so the Mac can't tell what monitor I have. Without spending over £100 on new cabling I have no way to fix the DDC problem.

How can I get 16:10 resolutions from the Mac? (specifically I want 1440x900)

Thanks.

I had this problem with my 32" LCD TV. OS X appears to have issues with some DDC data, as it detected fine using Boot Camp Windows XP!

Looked at DisplayConfigX and SwitchResX and went with the latter.

Power cycling the mini with the display still on should force it to recheck the DDC data. I've heard of it working for some people, but there's no guarantee.
