Is displayport always this finicky?
First, I bought a displayport -> HDMI adaptor, which didn't work with my PS3 and Dell 2311H (DVI port was used). I don't know whether the adaptor is faulty or not. I had a GTX480 at the time, so only had DVI and HDMI to play with (adaptor didn't work here either).
Now I bought a DVI -> HDMI cable, as well as a DP cable, and I now have a 6950. The HDMI -> DVI cable works perfectly with the DVI on the U2311H and the HDMI in the card. The card comes with a mini-DP to DP adaptor, to use with the mini DP on the card. Using this and the DP cable, the monitor reports no signal from the GPU. I have tried both mini DP on the card, to no avail.
Is display port a pointless standard? HDMI seems much like USB to me - IE: they just work. Display port seems to decide when it wants to work, which appears to be rarely...
