Displayport required for Eyefinity?

Hi,

I have two 5850's in Crossfire, giving me 4 DVI ports in total. I have purchased 3 x Samsung SM2443BW 24" monitors, but read that one screen MUST be connected via Displayport?

Could someone let me know if this is the case?

that is indeed the case, i do believe you'll be needing one of these Active Display port adapter, unless those monitors have a display port?

£80 for that Adapater, wow. Nearly the cost of a semi decent ATI card!

I see Apple also sell a Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter, would this also do the job?

No, as it's not an active adapter.

One thing about the apple (active) adapter is that I found you can't screw in the DVI plug to the adapter as the connection doesn't recess enough into the device to allow the DVI screws to reach the holes on the adapter - a minor nuisance.
