I'm on my 2nd adapter now, 4k 60hz compatible & i'm getting pink screen errors all over the place.

How hard is it to get one which just works?

Can anyone recommend one please? :)

I think it needs to be an active adaptor to do DP to HDMI 2.0 I believe for 60hz @ 4k. Only one that comes to mind is that Club 3D active adaptor which is DP to HDMI 2.0

Unsure what graphics card you are using but I was looking for this exact adapter, the ONLY one that I heard actually worked at SOME point was the Club 3D mentioned above and then apparently an AMD driver update in November or something stopped 4k60hz working. Don't know on Nvidia but after days of research I couldn't find any that actually seemed to do 40k@60hz without some issues.

My solution. I'm gonna get a new graphics card with HDMI 2.0!

Good luck and let me know if you do find one!

Rasseru - are you sending 8 bit colour depth to your display port with the 4K60Hz 444 ?
( 10bit/deep colour would be in the spec of dp1.2, but, since it is outside hdmi 2.0 spec the adapter might have problems.)

99% sure its 8bit. Will have to check later.

Is there any other tests I can do similar to the 444 test images on the net but for lead bandwidth etc?

The Lindy part does not say anything about the chipset it uses, the working club 3d, and others use Parade PS176.
[Personally fell out with Lindy technical support on a sata connector they sold me that seemed wrongly wired ]

Richeh - is it better top get hdmi2.0 graphics card or dp 1.3 - for best future proofing ?

To get proper 444 chroma on any LG OLED you need to set the input to 'PC'

I am, it passes the tests when using HDMI direct.

I will have to try the Club3D one then

lol. The Lindy one can only display 4k @30hz

you mean it only works for you at 30hz ? or, Lindy have told you their spec, which suggests it does do 60Hz is wrong ?

Could maybe still be hdmi lead that is inadequate, if the quality of the hdmi output circuitry on the Lindy is inferior to the other device where you checked out cable.

There is another brand UPTab , which seems to use same chip as club3d,
fwiw also seems the chip would allow dp1.3 on input, so future proofed.

It would also be interesting to know if these devices can ever fail because there is inadequate current available from the source to drive the active device

it is specced at 4k 60hz 444, i only get 30hz. when HDMI is on its own, I get 60hz 444

? i dont understand

cool, thanks

my lead is only 2m, current should be fine?

A tech from Lindy just emailed back, asking if i'm with Nvidia, as they have received a lot of complaints recently from people using nVidia cards! I wonder what that is about.... something to do with the new 10 series?

Hopefully you get your postage and money back.

I mean, the adapter maybe certfied as hdmi2.0 , but the signal jitter/quality from it is near hdmi spec limit, so together with a marginal cable you get failure.
(also perhaps the supply voltage from graphics card is not as good as it should be)

If you get a GFX card with HDMI2.0a or better then it will automatically have the 1.3 DP ports.

And this is only really a problem if you are using a 4k TV as opposed to a monitor, all monitors will have the required DP connections but TV's don't have these which is why these adapters come into play as you need DP to HDMI to get full 4k60hz but as I said earlier I have yet to find or hear of a fool proof one that just works.

As I will be wanting to connect my PC to an LG OLED I just decided that a new graphics card was the best option. If you don't need loads of performance you don't need to spend a lot for one with HDMI2.0.
