Displayport to VGA Adapter Successful 3 Monitor Eyefinity

OK - mine arrived today as well.

Have had a little while to play with it - on my Win 7 x64, 5970 BE, i920, 3x 22' Monitor system ....

Have issues getting all three monitors to run together - any two of three is fine (2x DVi or 1xDVI and 1xDP via adaptor) but not all three.
Windows doesn't seem to like enabling the DP monitor either - get an 'unable to save settings' message from Windows when I try.

Out of time for the moment - but it seems it is a maybe rather than a cert.
I remember seeing somewhere that Eyefinity doesn't work with crossfire yet...

Have you tryed disabling crossfire on your 5970 ...

5970 Eyefinity only works with 22 games....So make sure you pick one the games that works...

Finally, AMD is also launching Crossfire Eyefinity support with the 5970, and thus far only the 5970. Currently Eyefinity doesn’t work with Crossfire mode on any of AMDs cards due to driver limitations.
The drivers that the 5970 will be shipping with enable Crossfire Eyefinity support on the 5970 for 22 games – currently AMD is using whitelisting and is enabling games on a case-by-case basis. Crossfire Eyefinity will make its way in to the mainstream Catalyst drivers and be enabled for other cards early next year.

It sounds like his problem was setting up the display group in windows, so its not a matter of being an incomptable game.

its obviously not an issue with the adapter as well as it works fine using two screens.

I will let you all know in about 3 hours how my adapter fair`s
 
Sorry guys - won't get back to try more this evening.
Just to confirm - I can make any 2 of 3 monitors work connected by DVI or DP adaptor - just not all three at the same time.

Will look more into the Xfire aspects & report back later.....

Im using a Sapphire 5850...............and good news and bad news :(

It works however i get the blackscreen drop outs the same as a lot of other people.

This happens both in game and on the desktop, this cant be the adapter at fault surely as both the DVI and VGA adapters do this?

I will have a play and see what i can do!
 
You can't say because it works on two monitors that it'll work on three.

Actually you pretty much can. The Matrox 3-screen solution has worked in absolutely everything I've thrown at it, because as far as the PC's concerned (ie DirectX) I just have a silly-high-res monitor. Individual games may have problems filling that screen correctly, but they always work (even if that means defaulting back to filling the central screen).

The problem with Eyefinity is that it's bleeding-edge technology, with a variety of issues from immature drivers, to the displayport adapter lottery. And that's without adding crossfire quirks to the mix. It's a minefield.

ATI will eventually make Matrox's solution redundant. But in the mean time there is a complex cocktail of potential issues to wade through... which is the only reason I've stuck with my GTX260/TH2Go solution. Well, that and the price hikes on new ATI hardware.

Good luck to everyone pushing back the boundaries of user-experience with Eyefinity. Those of us intending to follow next year appreciate your pioneering spirit. :-)

I thought you would have been one the main members here that knew there was only limited support for Eyefinity with crossfire enabled...

Eyefinity "only supports 22 games" isn't the same thing as "limited support for Eyefinity with crossfire enabled..." now is it?

This is a list of games that support "surround gaming", that's triple widescreen resolutions, so they work with Eyefinity and TH2G.

I can't get this adaptor to work; will run any two of three monitors, but won't allow all three. Can't get the group setup to see all three monitors either ... so I think I'm going stop there. The more I read, the less I expect it will work with my 5970.
Depending on the price of the active adaptors when they become available I may try one of those - or maybe a 22" monitor with a DP (such as the Dell P2210H)

I failed to notice that i wrote "5970 Eyefinity only works with 22 games"

And surely you most know by now that the 5970 uses crossfire....

Anything new to report? is it a card/driver issue or u think the adapter just doesnt work?
