Dissertation easier than I thought?

I'm on course for a 2:2 if I do "really well" this year (final year)

Know what? I'm ****ing ashamed of myself. I freely admit that I could do better, and the fact that I'm going to walk away with a crap classificaiton is FAR more damning on my character than me having given it my all and come out with a 3rd.

As I'm now learning (albeit a bit late for the university area of my life), attitude is critically important, and I realise now, that my having scrapped by in everything in life with absolutely no effort is pretty damn pathetic.

Sure it has been fun to sit back and play games/socialise all day and drink and the rest durin the night for a few years, but I'm getting out what I'm putting in now.

Ah well, live and learn.

I put in 3 days of work effort for each of my past two essays and have achieved 75% and 72% for them. Far more satisfying than getting 50% for being "cool" enough to do it in a few hours before the deadline.

And to be honest, most people, at least by the final year; should be past this mentality. I know theres always some who hang on to their childhood.

I have definetley noted a maturity in my peers in recent months as deadlines hover into view.

I've always been quite immature for my age, not that it's an excuse.

I also meant that I would have gotten straight A's at GCSEs if I had revised for them rather than being hopelessly addicted to Civilization II.
Think quite a few people could say the same thing, though even without revision quite a few also probably would have still got better marks than you did :p

Honestly I dont know if your trying to under-achieve in this thread, but you arent painting yourself in a great light. About as bad as those people that feel entitled to things, rather than getting off their arse and doing something about it...

BTW Kudos Moses - something Id like to do...

I don't want to get into the whole argument, but how on earth did you get away with only attending 25% of lessons?

Attendance wasnt compulsory. I ended up with a lot of teachers calling me in for a chat and disciplinary crap, but where I went they couldnt kick me out until I finished the year and sat the exams, which I did and passed, therefore they had to let me carry on.

I wonder if people who are so obsessed over attendance also complain about the open university, you know that place where you get degrees by learning everything you need to yourself at home?

I really do hope you change your attitude mate. You get out of life what you put into it :)

I got an A*, so I can probably get into the Royal College of Art :).

That should be possible, I passed my interviews for a couple of music degrees based entirely on performance and my GCSE compositions alone.

But I had to do a minor only due to not being classically trained enough for the sight reading / music theory / composition modules.

You can always apply as a mature student - depending on experience/what you want to do, you might not require anything... or you may have to do something like an Access to Higher Education diploma (it's what I did... but it only took one academic year, part-time)
Been toying at the idea and looking at OU for a fair few months, its just that vague knowledge it might be my last chance to get my life sorted :p. Being an adult (Im over 30  ) isnt as fun as its cracked up to be :p

But I dont think I carry the chip on my shoulder like Bhavv appears to do - actually puts my life into acute focus...

Its all about the money unfortunately, that and my last escapades into HE werent the best, so Im naturally apprehensive. Its always nagged me to be as learned as I feel I am, I dont have a degree to show for it. Really only doing it for my peace of mind, than directly to further a career...

P.S. Just want to apologise to willhub for ruining his thread - btw check out Forza Horizons too!
