Distant learning part-time MSc in Computing

I am trying to identify the universities that offer distance learning MScs in Computing-related subjects and am not having much luck.

I know of universities like Durham that do this with a weekend onsite every 3/6 months over a 2 year period and the rest distant learning.

I want to avoid Open University because the fees are much greater than a standard university masters (circa 3-4k over 2 years part-time, 2-3X more for OU).

Any ideas (preferably southern universities, for ease of access if required)?

Rwac did you have any joy with this? I'm considering doing the same and from Cornwall anywhere but Tremough/Plymouth/Exeter is a tank of petrol each way
 
I looked at doing this myself and the cost just did not justify the qualification. I went the standard certification route in the end (MCSE, CCNA etc).

However, I did find that Luton (Bedfordsire Uni now I think), Hertfordshire and Liverpool (John Moores) did a completely Distant Learning Course. I went up and visited the Liverpool site and spoke to a few lecturers. The 'lesser' Universities seemed to do the complete distance package, the 'better' Uni's tended to offer (read must be attended) monthly or quarterly (weekend) workshops.

This was a few years ago now mind so may have changed.
 
Keep in mind that a decent MSc will take up a vast majority of your time while you're doing it. If it's not then either you're not putting in enough work or the course itself just isn't good enough.

I'm currently studying a masters in game design in trinity college dublin and I get very little free time. Granted it's only a 1 year course for a masters so it's always going to be tough but I wouldn't think you'd be able to do even a 2 years masters while holding down a 30-40 hour a week job.
 
The University of Hertfordshire offer a CS course via distance learning.

Not that I'm biased but it's quite a good department :p

As well as study their, I also worked their for a year in eLearning and they are one of the best for 'blended learning'
 
I'm currently doing the online MSc in IT with the University of Liverpool which I'm really enjoying. Its a tough slog though, rather than one or two assignments done over several weeks like my undergrad, we have two 500 word discussion to write for every Sunday and one or two larger assignments due every Wednesday, as well as participating in the online discussions and background reading. Whatever course you do decide to go for, don't expect to have much free time left.
