Just wondering.

Is it legal to go around with flyers, and place them on parked bikes, such as in the spokes.

The leaflets are advertising a bike park / cafe / bike maintenance.

Thanks.

I believe this is discouraged under by-law 24 paragraph 6 subsection 5 which states "The placing of leaflets on a person's motor vehicle is pretty gay bro".

It's perfectly legal.

Though I believe Birmingham, Manchester, Leicester and Leeds have certain areas they deemed 'no flyer' zones which require a licence.

In London one form of advertising that has cropped up is for people to put a waterproof cover on the saddle of bikes parked in the streets with the advert on.

As your target is quite specific, it might be quite successful.
Where as with other random leaflets, a lot of people tend to be annoyed by them.

I have no idea as to the legality of doing it but I get very annoyed if I find leaflets stuck on my car and will make it a point to never ever ever use that company on general principle :)

Why is this **** legal? Who in the **** are these people to touch my car/bike/any other peice of my personal property. Leave my stuff the hell alone or be soundly beaten.

You should hold a local bike rally / event and offer free maintenance for those who turn up.

Another promo that I've seen cycle companies do in London is to just setup at some traffic lights somewhere at a busy place and then give all the cyclists that come past like goodie bags.

That's a good idea, there are many little inexpensive things which come in handy with bikes. Much more interesting than (just) a flyer as well

Agreed.

Can't see that being all too successful to be honest, after all, it would require the cyclists to actually stop at the traffic lights! </troll> :p

I did it because the owner of the place wanted to and I was the person asked to do the task, so I did as was told.

A more popular version of this involves waiting at traffic lights and then cracking the cyclists with a golf club if they jump the lights. Get through quite a few clubs though.
