Ditching PS4 and moving to XBO

I'm giving some serious thought to ditching the PS4, selling my console, controllers, games etc, and moving over to Xbox One. Anyone done it, and if so any major regrets?

The main reason is around DLC, specifically for Rocksmith 2014. Sony/SCEE are appalling - hardly any of the back catalogue is on there, despite promises about getting it all added week by week. New stuff is not going on there. The game is important enough to me to make the leap, as it's one of my main pastimes atm, and Sony have such a bad track record supporting the updates to this game.

I'm trying to think of reasons why it would be a bad idea, so would appreciate anyone's advice. I realise everyone has slightly different requirements, and I know it's a slightly lesser spec etc, but not sure if that is enough to make me hold fire.

Don't really play any console exclusives - Driveclub has been pretty disappointing, and other than that it's mostly FIFA15 and some AC:Unity that I play.

I'd be taking quite a financial hit I guess, having to flog my current kit, then get a new XBO, and maybe the 2 or 3 games I want. But so far it's seeming the only thing I can do to get the most out of RockSmith 2014. I have it on PC, and all the DLC is on Steam right away, but it's painful trying to get the PC through my main TV and AV unit, so that me and the mrs can play the "game" together".

I'd seriously consider getting a cheap Xbox one in the new year and having both.

Its the only way to go IMO. Both have great exclusives and their own strengths and weakenesses. The only way to not feel left out is to have both.

Its what most had done by the end of the last generation. You're already an early adopter in having a PS4. Just stick it out until after xmas and you'll find some good XBO deals.

Cheers, but that doesn't solve my problem with DLC, which is only apparent on Sony's consoles.

I'm thinking more that it's worth changing *because* I don't play exclusives :)

Cheers, I guess this is an option. The kids have 2 PS3s and an Xbox 360 upstairs - the 360 is hardly used, so I guess I could grab that back off them and get Rocksmith 2014 for that, which will at least solve my DLC dilemma :)

Given that Rocksmith isn't exactly going to be visually breath taking like say Far Cry 4 would be, I'd definitely do this to solve your rocksmith dilema.

Its not worth taking the hit only to re buy a PS4 when a game comes along in a few years time you want. We're only 1 year into this generation, theres easily another 4 years worth of releases for you to find something you want on PS4 and have to re buy it.

Indeed - the more I think about it, the more I think this is my best short-term option. The only thing is, I guess, that if I invest in all my DLC on Xbox 360, I'll need to get an XBO at some point (DLC is compatable between last gen and this gen). I think I will do this - cheers, you've talked me into some sense :)

Surely it does solve the problem as you can just buy the affected games on the Xbone. Keep the PS4 for future releases you may be interested in (ones that haven't even been announced yet). In the long run you will probably get one again in the future anyway thus just keep it.

I would swap you my Xbone for a PS4 but I know x months down the line, I'd be hampering for another one when Quantum Dream or Crackdown come out. :p

I have both, I think it would be a mistake to swap the PS4 for the X1. I find overall the PS4 is the better out of the 2 consoles.

You state however that you find Sony's support for Rock smith appalling. If this is the main use for the console then it's certainly worth contemplating. As others have suggest having both would be ideal. Alternatively there is the PC version as well if you have a laptop or PC handy. Can't imagine the specs being crazy for that game.

A quick look at the Ubisoft forums suggests that all the DLC is not available on the Xbox either and that both versions will have it in the timescale promised.

Not sure what the problem is, the games only just come out and there's potentially hundreds of songs to sort out and re licence with the rights holders.

Ubisoft make the game not Sony. They are the gaming development equivalent of pond life.

Sounds like you've already made your mind up to me? If the whole Rocksmith support reason is a good enough reason to you, then you should do it.

Cheers all - for now I've taken the kids Xbox 360 back downstairs and using that, but as I've now (last night) invested in all the DLC I wanted, means I need to get an Xbox one at some point in the future.

Not true - the DLC is (barring a few small exceptions) all available on the XBox One - there are a couple of issues around downloading packs but the bulk is there. It is ALL on the MS store for the 360 as well.

Sony/SCEE on the other hand do not even have the latest DLC available for the PS3, and the PS4 currently has around 5% of the back catalogue of DLC added. Ubi have insisted that they have passed ALL the DLC to SCEE, and that SCEE agreed to put it up in a batch per week so that it would all be online by Christmas. Check out the EU PS store updates for the last couple of weeks - no RS2014 DLC in sight.

The game may have only just come out for PS3/XBO but has been out ages on last gen, there are no licensing issues to be sorted, it's all available and ready, as proved by the MS store.

Thanks all - had a blast last night playing all the tracks I've been waiting for, just need to decide whether to keep the PS4 and add an XBO, or just replace it - not sure I have the space or need for both :/

Wait, if the DLC is available on the 360 (all), and the graphic isn't that big a matter for Rocksmith, I would keep the PS4 and buy an Xbox 360 just for Rocksmith. Win and not as big a hole in the wallet :)

Traded my 360 in for mony off the ps4 although i love my ps4 must admit i miss my 360 had a xbox 1 twice i see a deal and can't resist lol but only to sell it again but i will get anothrt 360 want to replay sang andreas again
