Hi people

I have recently started to learn to dive so i can become qulified to dive in open water down to 18m.

Where is good in the UK to go diveing? im going to stanly cove soon hopefully to do the open water qulification.

Loads of places but if your learning with padi your going to need to do your drysuit quali for UK waters. Wetsuits in the UK make sad divers :(

Also worth noting is that no dive locations in the UK offer kit hire or guided diving as normal.

Where are you based? The best UK diving is in the sea. That normally means south coast or Scotland.

Im in the midlands, Hinckley to be exact, hence going to the cove.

Why do they make sad divers? is it a bit chilly?

Is the PADI Open water Qulification not allow the use of drysuits?

Hey,

Being in the Midlands means the sea is about 4 hours in every direction. For shore diving, Anglesey, Portland, St abbs are really good. Boat diving wemouth, plymouth, eyemouth. There are so many choices. My advice will be Join a diving club, it is the easiest way to build up experience. There are several good clubs around you which i can put you in touch with if you want. Or if you want to come have a chat in person im at Loughborough uni and the uni club meets every wednesday night. We can point you in the right direction.

I dived my first year in the uk in a wetsuit, it is manageable but can get pretty cold on the surface during winter. I still dive a wetsuit for shallow dives during the summer!
