Hi all I have a valve on my central heating that flicks between HW and CH. I've noticed that it seems to get stuck sometimes when it should be only running HW (i.e. some water goes through the rads when it shouldn't). I've changed the motorised bit so I assume it's the vale that's the issue. Is it worth trying to clean it up, or am I just better doing a straight up replace? The valve does seem to move reasonably freely, however it might not go fully to the HW side which could be why it's getting stuck.

It depends on the price of the part. If it is cheap just replace it.
The same time and effort in taking it off and putting it back on but you know you have a good one for a while.
If its expensive try cleaning it as you have nothing to lose but the time and effort

Not worth the time and hassle trying to fix for me doing it for a living as its just an invitation for callbacks 3 weeks later.

It would be quicker to swap it for a decent quality new one and be done with it if you don't mind spending the money.

Just change it, it's not a particularly difficult job to do unless in a difficult place to access. Take a photo of the old valves wiring before you do. Might also be worth your while draining the system completely, give it a flush through then refill with some inhibitor at the same time.

Cheers guys. I watched a YouTube video and the guy said you should be able to adjust it by hand. I can't do I ordered one off eBay for 20 quid (just the valve). Hopefully all the isolator valves work as I've not used them before and the house is 30 years old and a very hard water area  .

I had a sticky flow turbine sensor, and in the process of swapping it discovered ... I have about 3 faulty valves! Can't isolate the radiator loop, can't isolate the water supply from the hot water feed...

Edit: boiler was installed 2016 apparently and a few service records but not for years.

Fortunately there's a pump just Infront of the diverter. 1 of the isolators on that feels stuck, but the other is ok. I've had my dental heating converted to a sealed system so hopefully turning that off and some past the diverter on each leg will be ok.
