Well I say set but it's not as intrusive as other codec packs out there.

I've been toying with it this fine evening and I have to say I am impressed, it supports DXVA and should be awesome for MPC-HC users that couldn't get HD VC1 files working via DXVA among other files created by some HD camcorders so this should solve that.

Test it out it's quite easy, just add the DivX decoders as a preferred decoder in the External Filters section in MPC-HC Options and reload a h264 video.

Everything HD is now playing in smooth DXVA, I think the native vsync is more fluid than MPC's built in sync (less judder) - at least it certainly feels that way anyway.

Oh yeah, Windows 7 Tech preview for MKV seems to have gone final through this now as the default "codec only" install enabled MKV file thumbnails and details in Explorer too.

I'll be turning off MPC-HC's built in video filters in favour of DivX 8 now :)

Hmmm, first MKV I try and I get lots of problems. I use this with my XBox 360 (which also shows the same issues) so it's nice to see its gone live, the tech preview has served me well. Still doesn't support srt subs though.

How do you mean doesn't support srt subs?

DivX still requires something like Haali media splitter for complete support or your player should support external subtitles (MPC does for example).

Well, they don't work with WMP but I dunno how that transcribes to the 360 which still probably won't support them. Using Media Centre on the 360 of course.

We use DivX Plus Player to watch our videos, but we recognize that not everyone else does. Unfortunately, many popular media players don't display multiple audio tracks or subtitles. To get your subtitles and multiple audio tracks working on other media players, just make sure your media player is using the DivX Codec. You can say thank you/gracias/danke/merci/obrigado later.

Hmmm... Not having much luck telling Media Centre to do that, didn't think you could.

Oh I have no idea on what the Xbox supports but WMP certainly plays srt subtitles with Haali Media Splitter installed.

If the XBOX plays subtitles embedded in mkv files then use mkvmerge to merge your avi segment and srt subtitle into a mkv container then mux that together - it will only take a few mins but you'd get a usable file with subs for the xbox...

They need to be muxed into the file according to their forums. Probably the only way they will work on the 360. Still can't fast forward etc on the 360 though so I'm not going hold my breath!

I'm having issues with this in Win 7. Two different files I have, AVI and MKV, both keep playing sound from different areas and on my 360 they just freeze after a few seconds. They also seem to speed up and slow down randomly on my PC.

This is playing with MWP and media centre. I don't watch them on my PC, always through my 360 extender. I never had the issues with the previous version of the tech preview but now I can't find that to re-install :(

Does this actually properly support mkv's with multiple tracks of subs and/or audio yet?

Last time I tried it couldn't deal with my mkv's so I went with sharky's codec packs and they have div-x included but use the Haali splitter, this works a treat in x64 too, only thing that hasn't worked is realmedia in x64 player but thats not exactly an issue :)

You still need Haali Media Splitter for that aspect (should be a requirement really to install this alongside any major decoder filter as it's so good at media splitting).

DivX 8 will split but I still use Haali as it's better, I just use the codec to output DXVA :)

Edit*
Strange issue Dup, as I mentioned though I don't know what the XBOX extender supports and doesn't support, sounds like a conflict somewhere though!

Bumping an old topic here, but for some reason my mpc won't let me add any divx filter apart from the decoder filter. The option to add the H.264 isn't even there

Ah mega bump indeed!

If you're using the x64 version you will only see decoder filter.

It's worth noting though since my OP the iinternal MPCHC decoders have been improved and all files seem to work for h264/avc/vc1 now.

Ah makes sense now :)

It's the x64 version of mpc-hc, was just after giving it a try. Back to ffdshow for mt2s playback i go!

Didn't think about it really when i was installing it, x64 was an option so i just installed it :p

Getting the x86 version now then, cheers :)
