Diy chip amp project!

really will be a buzz when i power it up for the first time, i cant wait to hear what sort of sound quality i get out of it. My girlfriend thinks im insane for building one and not just buying a prebuilt amp form a shop, she doesnt understand the finer details of self love felt when you do something like this :D

currently its a basic SOHA amp but with an opa2107 in the output stage.

HOwever i have just ordered a E12 kit (delay and Dc offset circuit) to protect headphones from any turn on / turn off transients.

Was going to check that with you as it certainly looked like one. O and the e12 muting curcuit does its job very well, I have one in my Millett MAX.

Tempted to try an alien DAC to use with my PC, but I spent a good £60 upgrading the analogue circuitry on my emu 0404 and buying a custom RCA cable. Plus the DAC in my cd-63 is pretty good anyway, and the whole analogue circuitry in that is modded to within an inch of its life, only BG caps needed now :)

Great work boys, it's good to see some fellow DIYers in here, and Im in the same boat as damien too. She doesn't like the table covered in parts, cables, and my soldering stuff.

I have my own space, a small 10x14 foot room at the back of our house, top floor. Ive never seen the missus get so possessive over something that wasnt hers besides me:D
Constantly all i get is "tidy that **** hole!" to wich i respond "thats what the bloody door is there for, get out woman":D

the little amp (the alu box) no not at all (about £30 all in). I got the tube pre / headphone amp for £45. You could make one for not a lot but its dangerous (very high voltage) if you are not experiences

I really fancy a little amp like that for the bedroom.

My old man bought a SonicT one which does the trick.

Are there any other alternatives (pre-built)?

Andy
