Hi all,

Need a bit of DIY advice - my towel rail is screwed into the wall into those rawlplugs / raw plugs (dont know the correct name), but one appears to have come loose from the wall.

Im thinking some strong glue could fix it, i did try superglue but its not strong enough. Anyone got any ideas?

Cheers,
Sam

i would take the whole thing down, re drill it, use new plugs etc etc. Move it a an inch or so up and then fill the old holes

Is the wall brick or plasterboard?
If it's plasterboard I'd definitely go with a relocation and new plugs.
However if it's brick, I've successfully used an adhesive building cement to fill the existing hole then press in a new plug. When it's dry, just screw the rail back up. Less of a pain than drilling new holes.

I had the same problem with a shower rail and just got hold of some wider rawlplugs bashed it in with the back end of a screwdriver and just screwed it back into that it's still up there nice and solid after a year.

If it is plaster, you would be better off with some butterfly fixings, rather than plugs.

If brick then get some proper brown Rawlplugs, not the smooth cheap type you get supplied with the rail. If they are red in at the moment, then hammer a brown one in and bobs yer teapot.

Is it wrong that this made me snigger?

If it is a plasterboard wall then as already mentioned use butterfly fixings instead of plugs. If it is in brick then just remove the current one and use a slightly larger one in its place.
