Morning all,

After a year of having my projector going straight onto my wall, i would like to make my own screen.

Has anyone done this and/or is able to help me out?

My projector is the Optoma GT750-XL (3D) - Aspect Ratio 16:10 (Native) 4:3, 16:9

At the moment my projector image goes from wall to wall, so i'm just going to make the biggest projector screen that goes from wall to wall then move the projector to fit (its not wall mounted)

I'm just a bit confused with the aspect ratio side, how big do i need to buy my cloth, is there a calculation i need or is it a case of turning it on and measuring the image from the wall and going from there.

Also, is there a good place in the UK i can walk into and buy some decent blackout cloth?

I'll go with the above measurments and just add 10cm so i have room to wrap cloth around.

What's the best cloth to use?

A re e you planning on painting it after making the screen, or just projecting on to the material "as is"?

Also, there's a thread on this first page of the forum about a guy making a thin bordered screen. Have you read it?

As for size, the aspect ratio is probably the only calculation you need. Image width divide by 16 and then multiplied by either 9 or 10 depending whwther you want a 16:9 or 16:10 screen.

If you're going with that size screen you'll need to get 270 x 167 size cloth as a minimum. Normally comes in 2m width depending on where you buy it so might just end up buying more than you'll need.

Will be removing the tape border today and replacing it with felt wrapped MDF. I've also ordered colour changing LED's to go around the screen to. Not sure how good the sides will be as they are pratically up against the wall, but the top/bottom will look great i think!
