Dizzee Rascal on Obama

Except there isn't really any racism in this thread, and I never claimed there was.

Just an awful lot of terrible stereotyping, which I was responding to in kind. Do keep up.

I have no need to keep up.

You saying what you said, is racist towards certain people. Just, they are not allowed to state that.

Indeed, stereotyping is everywhere, do 'keep up' with the times as you would say.

all you people saying "black people only voted for obama because hes black".. um, dur..

i bet you there was a **** load of white people who didnt vote for him because hes black

Possibly, that's how it works for some reason, although I'm hoping it isn't the case.

According to the graph (which is how accurate?) its kind of 40 / 60 regarding who they voted for.

But meh.

It's not racist to state something is like a certain race. How is it? I'm not discriminating against anyone in any way. I'm just pointing out how, from several replies in this thread, how obvious it is that a lot of people posting are white. I really don't see how that's racist, maybe you could explain it to me.

EDIT: For simplicity's sake: It's not racist to point out someone's race.

I'm not going to get in a race discussion :)

As this isn't what the OP is about, or what should be discussed.

OH FFS BLACK PEOPLE ALWAYS VOTE DEMOCRAT IN THE US

Try some goddamn history lessons.

This thread couldn't be more white, middle-class and suburban if it tried.

Exactly.

Historically, African Americans have always voted Domorcats, regardless who is their candidate, Clinton had around 85% of the black votes and John Kerry had around 88% of the Black votes, unless I am mistaken and something Clinton and Kerry isn't telling us, they are both white.

African Americans do not just vote for Obama because he is black, although no doubt there has been some have voted because of that, so would the some white Republicans who voted for McCain because the Democrats has a Black Candidates and that because McCain is white. The majority of African Americans voted (at least 85% - Clinton numbers, or 88% in the case of Kerry) voted for Democrats because they always votes for Democrats not because Obama is black.

Out of intrest and not being in with us election history, is there a particular reason why the black vote goes the way of democrats?

Imagine the people that hate you, your friends and family are all white and all mostly Republican. You would vote for the other side, wouldn’t you? Regardless who the Candidates are, you just vote for their "enemy" because it'll be a cold day in hell before you are going to side with them!

Strangely enough, the Deep South, where the Republicans are strongest, were Democrats before Slavery was abolished.

He's just a rascal, Mr Rascal!

Raymond is right on both points, the Republicans submitted the resolution for an amendment which abolished slavery and now they take a very high percentage of the racist, hicksville vote.

Not only do the Democrats normally get a very high amount of the black vote, but a lot more black people have been encouraged to vote in this election.

I'm sure a lot of people did vote for him purely because he is black, and likewise I'm sure a lot, possibly even more people didnt vote for him because he is black.

Dizzee Rascal's presence was because of the involvement of hip hop in encouraging young people, particularly young black people to vote in the election. As said he didnt say anything groundbreaking, but it was good to hear what most people see as a sensible view put across for once as where we should be going.

I don't think its ridiculous to say that black people voted because Obama was black.

What strikes me as amusing is why people think this is an unreasonable thing to do, when you consider the circumstances.

exactly, after the way the Republicans handled hurricane Katrina it is enough to make anyone racist.

fixed :)

oh, it was a Democrats President Lyndon Johnson (JFK introduced the Bill) that signed the Civil Rights Act in 1964 that gave Black people equal rights.

You can see why Black people vote Democrats.

Actually that's a good point, I didn't think about it like that and I've been one of the idiots saying all the African Americans had voted him in just because he was black, thanks for the history lesson dude.

I don't think it's ridiculous to suppose that some black people voted for Obama based on him being black. I do however find it ridiculous to assume that they all did. As the posts above have stated*, there's far more to it than that. I'd bet you a decent whack that a black republican candidate would have struggled to do the same, but obviously we've no way of settling that.

*As well as the fact that a large proportion of black people are also in lower wage brackets, and that those groups have always tended to favour voting democrat, regardless of race.
