Trying to get a HTPC or other way to get media to the TV in the livingroom and with a USB stick I can use DLNA with my TV. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience of exactly how well this works. It looks good on the face of it but as with much technology like this there is always some kind of snag or hitch.

I would probably be playing media from PC but also have tablets & phones to play too. Anyone have any tips on how well this has worked for them over WIFI and how it handles media formats and containers.

Thanks.

I use it quite a lot, I would suggest you install serviio on your PC as the DLNA server.
Over wi-fi its usually down to the codec I can stream low def avi files (divx, xvid etc) but H.264 tends to stutter. In the end I just moved the media server so its under the tv and used ethernet.

I hear quite a few people are using powerline adapters so that could be an option.

I use my pc to steam to my tv, I run Nero media home which it simple to set up. Steam via cable as the pc is next to the tv. Have not had an issues apart from the tv software
