So it is currently day two of being sick to death of having no internet and I have ran through every basic procedure I can endure, such as reseting router, factory settings and messing around with my Dynamic DNS settings in my TG585v7 Router. My provider is TalkTalk and they have been of no real assistance.

They have told me from there end, there are no visable problems and my router is telling me the same with all green lights showing steady and fine but that isn't the case, as I cannot connect to the internet and troubleshooting tells me "The DNS server isn't responding".

If anybody could help it would be brilliant, my config page:

Can you ping 4.2.2.2 if so:

Your router at the moment is handling DNS and relaying it to your machine. I would try using a manual DNS of 8.8.8.8 in your computer settings.

how do I check if I can ping 4.2.2.2? And by manually entering those DNS settings you mean via control panel>network and internet sharing>change adapter settings>properties and then alter it in "Internet Protcol Version 4"?

Thanks for the advice

Still no success with both of these options. I have been able to access the DNS settings through the cmd, with "telnet" but I have no idea what dns's I need to manually enter.

Have you tried typing this at command prompt.

nslookup [enter]
set type=a [enter]
google.co.uk 8.8.8.8 [enter]

What response do you receive?

Here is my response to that ThomP,

It's really beginning to frustrate me now.

Hi,

If you open command prompt & type:

ping 8.8.8.8 [enter]

what response do you receive?

Also do you have any other computers on your network. If so I assume they all have the same issue?

I'm also interested to know if you have any security software that is interrogating / redirecting your http / dns traffic.

What anti-virus / internet security / firewall software are you using?

+1 to what Droid said

Reset your router settings

Step 2, set all your network settings / IP etc to 'auto'

Dymanic DNS and DNS are totally different things

Well as of right now there are two other machines on the network, a desktop and a wireless laptop and all are getting the problem. When I ping 8.8.8.8:

Funnily enough I recently got a trial version of Mc Afee and I thought straight away when the problem arose that I should delete mc afee, so once I did that I noticed no change what so ever and now have turned every firewall off in my computer.

Your not having a "DNS issue" as you cannot ping public IPs.

In an earlier post I think you already factory reset your TalkTalk router & entered all your ISP details.

If you log into your TalkTalk router,
Can you identify your upload/download speed?
Do you have a public facing IP address assigned to your WAN interface?
Could you please tell me your gateway IP assigned to your WAN interface?
Could you also please try pinging your gateway IP address & report the results?

So you have reset your router right? Then it's possibly not an issue from router to Talk Talk.

Step 2
Get another device, or format a cheap laptop or something and try on that without changing any settings on your router.

From that above ping result your not loosing any packets so do step 2.

PS, not all sites respond to ICMP requests. When you ping a site or DNS and don't get a reply it doesn't mean you have DNS issues.

To me looking at them stats in your first post things seem to be OK, unless you have been infected with some nasties.

If you connect to your routers interface ensure you have connectivity by checking connection details etc. Also check what your external IP is and more importantly what the gateway IP address is. Prosuming everything looks ok try and ping the Gateway IP your router has picked up. Looks to me like you might not be getting a connection fully. I think there is an option on the speedtouches to do a check for connection right through to resolving etc.

Are you sure you are using the right username and password? I have an old speedtouch that has AoL locked firmware. Resetting it puts in old login details and looks like it is connected until you run the connection test. So after resetting it did you put the right details in to connect? I don't think talktalk supply speedtouches do they, so it likely doesn't 'remember' your details on a power cycle.
