Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can advise me if an entry made locally in the hosts file in XP can have any effect on the rest of the network.

Specifically could pointing all Exhange nodes to 127.0.0.1 to force the use of RPC over HTTP cause DNS issues for anyone else?

I had assumed no way, but now doubt my certainty.

Thanks for any help.

iirc The hosts file is local to that computer. Its just another process of how the computer looks up a IP address etc...

Hi,

Yes that's correct. I had a moment of paranoia after a serious DNS issue occurred coincidentally just after I made some hosts file changes.
