Do all mk1 MX5's come with a diff?

Triumph Dolomite Sprint - RWD with no diff?

Yea just cause its got a Live rear axel doesn't mean its missing a diff, as stated above its the suspension setup.

I realise.

as a lot of peopel know you can weld the diff closed, but you dont have go through tyres:P but i do beleive every car no matter what it is comes fromt he factory with a diff.
saitrix can you expand please, are we in the dark about something? lol

Yes, but it does have a diff. Live axle just refers to the rear suspension design AFAIK, which in the case of a live rear car means leaf springs.

No it doesn't.

My car has a live rear axle, 4-linked from the factory and with coils.

And Live != bad.

A live axle can work very, very well if it is located correctly.

Look at Bristol cars - they have an eight-linked live axle and handle brilliantly, with great ride quality.

Sorry Penski, you're absolutely right - live doesn't neccessarily mean leafeys. I was over-simplifying things :)

I've driven some beautifully handling cars with live rears before - nothing quite as nice as a Bristol, but some very good machinery nonetheless.

congratulations. one ;)

Alfa Romeo Guilia is another off the top of my head if i recall correctly. But cars definitely came without them, not saying modern cars dont come with a diff, just that there is still cars on the road that dont have one.

minidan, The above should answer you.

JamesRJ, That has made me think. Let me come back to you, it could have been me just going on a crazy off on one. :p Ill have a word with a few guys who have one.

Where's lashout when you need him.

What makes you think they don't have a diff? i.e. what mechanism do you think they use? i think that is all that's being asked
