Do all Nokia N95 models have the inbuilt gps

yes. the later firmware makes it work faster also. i'm selling a brand new n95 handset on fleebay soon, how much did you pay for yours out of interest?

I haven't bought one off ebay yet just making sure of my facts before i do. They seem to vary considrably in price from £80 upwards but I am holding out for a bargain. how much you say you were selling yours for. Buy it now price i mean

the knackered ones go for about 80-100 but i've seen 3 brand new ones go for 200 in the last week. if i were able to save the paypal and ebay fees i'd prob take 165 including postage and the 8 gb card in it. god i hate paypal and ebay fees! why do they take so much of our hard earned cash??

For basic GPS functionality, no you don't have to pay a penny.

The N95/N96 allow you to turn on "assisted GPS". This uses a small bit of data when connecting and you will be charged by your mobile network for this usage. The advantage of assisted GPS is that it reduces the lock on time.

If you want turn-by-turn directions then you will need to buy or subscribe to an appropriate navigation package.

so how do things like real sat navs work once u bought the unit do u have to subscribe to the satelite to use it? What i am really asking is "is there a phone which gives u free access forever :)"

seriously? using the sat nav on the phone wont cost me a penny? i have had this phone almost 19 months now and resisted from using the sat nav as i thought it cost me loads.

haha thats probably the best thing i've ever heard!! reading the manual really does work sometimes....

It will cost you if you use the assisted GPS and you dont have unlimited data, or if you subscribe to the nokia directions thing. Download something like garmin for it

aGPS uses hardly any data at all. I was using it in Portugal recently loads and I was only charged about a quid for about 7 days use, and that's at overseas roaming charges

It was very patchy on my ex's n95 actually... but she didnt use it and didnt care! BUT if it works ok, its pretty good!

Its on my n82 and its great! Using 3g or something to get a roguh lock on where you are, then it finds satalites... gets me from in my house in a matter of seconds :)

Same here.
About a month ago, i faffed with it, and found that even with heavy usage of the GPS, it cost me almost nothing with AGPS on.

They are usable but no way the best GPS system, I use route 66 on my n95 8gig and it seems to want to perdict where you should be mainly due to the size of the GPS receiver on the phone. My mate uses tomtom on the first N95 with an extrenal GPS receiver via bluetooth and its seems far better for telling you where you are.

If one of the main reason for getting a n95 is the for satnav, I would recommend getting a cheap dedicated car satnav.
