New downloadable content for the £45.00 game you purchase a fews months ago. That will be £8.50 please :)

Just downloading the COD4 maps, which by looking at the screenshots are just features from the actual single player game! The game lacked any decent single player anyhow. I remember COD, 2 & 3 taking ages to complete, COD4 a day! RES Evil on the Wii took me ages too feeling my £30 was well spent

Anyone feel ripped off slightly, where on the PC everything including online play is free?

I don't feel ripped off because I only purchase the extra content if I know I will get an acceptable amount of value from it. DLC for the games I play a lot of is something I welcome with open arms even if it does cost simply because it adds to my game and if it is to expensive or dosnt offer enough for me I don't pay it.

I have also never paid £45 for a console game in my life and cant imagine why anybody would unless it was Guitar Hero or something similar which comes with a funky accessory.

So as a console owner I am perfectly happy to be honest. :)

PS how to play the new maps, I have downloaded and gone to Xbox live and connected on a deathmatch, but you cannot choose you map unless you create a private one?!?

You never finished cod4 on vet in a day. COD 3 never took ages either it was a walkthrough.

Why do people always come out with this £45 game rubbish. I bought it at launch easily for £29.99 and in december it was readily available for £19.99.

If you know the new maps are levels from the single player game and you dont like it, why are you buying them?

Personally I like playing new levels from the single player game.

I also wouldn't automatically feel ripped off if I finished a game in a day. I would rather quality than quantity but obviously there has to be a balance. There's nothing worse than a game made longer by padding, which is simply a waste of your time and gives little fun.

If you dont feel like it is worth it dont buy it!

I have only ever bought one bit of dlc (BF2 Euro Forces) and have never felt any thing else has been worth the money.

I dont feel ripped off at all since I only buy DLC if I know I will use it a lot and get my moneys worth. DLC helps recouperate money and funds the next project/sequel and if I am getting value for money what is there to feel ripped off about?

PC gets DLC but in a different form aka Expansion packs and nobody complains about them. Thats all DLC is, smaller 'expansion packs' for a much lower cost on a more frequent basis. The pricing could do with some tweaking but that will sort itself out over time since its new territory and hasnt been done before on consoles*. MS, Sony, Nintendo etc will eventually find the sweet spot with price/content ratio.

*Xbox Live was doing it last gen on the Original Xbox but not on such a huge scale

I think a bigger issue is why you pay for Live when you host the games yourselves
They should either provide dedi servers or make Live free & charge for DLC, Having it every way is taking the **** if you ask me.
If they want to compete with PC online then they should lay on Dedi servers & only charge for DLC.
I have both copys of COD4 & only play the PC version as i like a higher player count & choosing my own low ping server. On top of that i struggle to afford 40 quid for Nothing.

Admittedly i sux at FPS with a controller & much prefer playing Forza2 on my 360 so that has to be taken into consideration when reading the above.
Still if Live was Free then i would spend much more time on the 360 & improve my play.

People keep using the £40 figure for Live. Simple fact is nobody other than the incredibly stupid and lazy pay that price. Its so easy to get it cheaper its not a realistic figure despite it being rrp.

You can get a 13 month live subscription for a lot less than £40. Almost half infact.

If Live was free, it wouldn't be what it is today (PSN? :p).

For me, the COD4 maps worked out at £6.80 which is £1.70 each. Considering I play it often and always have a good laugh, that's cheap entertainment for me.

No, the features of Live which are superior currently to PSN are already provided free of charge to all Xbox Live users. There's no reason Microsoft can't provide the multiplayer gaming aspects of Live free of charge to all users and leave the subscription to the things like "Trueskill" matchmaking and exclusive items on the marketplace.

They already provide this for one set of Live users (Live for Windows) so they should be able to offer to their biggest market too - the only reason they charge for Live is because they know they can get away with it on a console.

If they are to stick with the current model then dedicated servers for all first party titles should be provided as a minimum - if Sony can manage to offer them they Microsoft shouldn't have any problem.

The SP while short was excellent and you can get many 360 games for 25-30 quid if you know where to look.

We definately get stuffed, take the orange box as an example, inferior to the PC version, more expensive, have to pay for Live (which is pretty rubbish) to play online.

Downloadable content is just another way of making a quick buck, on PC its not at all unusual to get extra content for free.

You also get some for free on the consoles and some on the PC you have to pay for, as pointed out that's all the expansion packs are.

Anybody feeling ripped off has nobody to blame but themselves. You have to evaluate if a product is worth it to you. If its not don't buy it.

Nope, not a raw deal at all. Consoles are cheap (even at launch) and you get a constant supply of games and updates.

You won't catch me complaining.

Games console are becoming a huge cash cow compared to PC.

Microsoft with Xbox 360 especially seems like everything has a fee no matter how small.

Yeah dlc is starting to get silly, on the new 1upshow they said the next battlefield game you will need to pay to unlock some of the guns. I don't like the trend that's starting to happen.
