Simple question really, do full copper CPU blocks perform any better than those with just a copper base?

I am looking at the EK range unless anyone has any better suggestions?

Nope full copper doesn't really make a diffrence. Nickle plated blocks are copper under the nickel. The only reason to not use copper blocks really is if your rads are made out of a certain metal that with copper causes galvanised corrosion. But very few rad companies make them with metals that cause it for a reason. (I think it's the copper ones it might be the nickel ones it doesnt make a diffrence tbh at the end of the day they are both copper blocks really and work the same way.)

Sorry I meant full copper, as in copper top as well as copper base, vs copper base only.

I don't want to use nickel after all the business of the plating coming off.

The top being copper (in my understanding) wouldn't make any sort of difference as the heat is coming from the CPU, not the surrounding case. The block itself might have slightly more thermal capacity but that shouldn't make a difference as you're just trying to draw the heat away as efficiently as possible with the water you're passing through the block.

Makes little difference, iirc a full copper raystorm performs slightly worse than a regular raystorm but the differences are so minor that it's not something you should worry about.

Though full metal blocks do look pretty damn sexy.

Pretty much this, the full copper model performs slightly better with IX and about 1 degree worst when using MX2.

Makes no difference honestly... and the nickel plating issue was fixed years ago mate. I prefer nickel plated blocks because imo they look nicer than copper.
