Do House Spiders bite?

Ok, I'll say it again. Look at the picture. That whole metal (or aluminium) ring on the bottom of the bath is 3 inches wide. I have measured it.

I'm not doubting you, I said you have a large, non standard bath plug which is distorting scale. Calm down dear.

OK on a serious note...All spiders can bite, they all have fangs.

I dont think there have ever been any reports of a "house spider" biting people though, i doubt their fangs are strong enough to break human skin. And all spiders also have venom, again some are just nowhere near toxic enough to hurt humans, unless you are unlucky enough to be allergic to it.

Yes they can bite and break the skin but their venom is not very harmful unless you get an allergic reaction, just feels like a pin *****, I got bitten on my big toe when I put some boots on that contained a House Spider, thought I had caught a Thistle or Thorn inside my boot when I shook it out a dead curled up spider fell out and sure enough two tiny puncture holes in my toe, I then did the male only thing of wondering whether I would gain Super Powers for a while before I carried on with my life...

The bath plug is 3 inches wide, I just measured it, and the spider was bigger than the plug as seen in the picture

...Seriously? Your plug hole is 3 inches wide? I think you need to go back and measure again, possibly when you less resemble a hysterical teenage girl.

And no, "honest guv, I measured again and it really was 3.5" wide!" doesn't cut it. You've measured once, you've taken photos once, combine the two for proof or you're just being a wuss.

To answer the question. I remember reading somewhere that they do bite but their bite isn't strong enough to pierce the skin and the venom is too weak to do any harm anyway.

Disclaimer - I can't vouch for the truth of that claim so it's best to be safe than sorry and nuke it from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.

You absolute total wimp, if it's that bad, turn the tap on and watch it flounder then maybe you'll feel alpha enough to take charge and throw it out of a window!
