Argh! Every time i even touch the powercable going into the back on my PC into the Hiper 580typeR i hear a crackling noise - is this normal? The slightest movement causes this.

I was just playing NFS-Carbon and the PC just turned off and i think its the PSU or the powercable doing this but i am not sure. Turned on fine again though..

Try a different kettle lead (power lead) into the back on the PSU. It just sounds as if it is not making a good connection and so the slightest touch causes it to loose power. I've seen this at work a few times, a couple of the power leads have a bit of a rubber shoulder round them and you can't push them in fully to the PSU unit and so they crackle occasionaly when you shift the PC around. :)

I think the PSU is fine, but just the cable is a bit dodgy. :)

Ok mate i will try another powercable but seeing as this cable is the one that came with the power supply itself i am rather disapointed :(. When i plug it in it feels as if it is not making good enough contact either!

edit: does it matter if the replacement power cable is generic?

"Trust me" I've been an engineer to long to remember>>>>any kettle type cable will do..........crackling noise when moving connector is not a good sign and will burn out contacts
