Do i have a hard drive problem or not?!

I have just built my new pc around a quad core intel chip an abit ip35 board and two 500gig AAKS drives.

I have raided the two as raid 0. But when i turn the pc on and its booting up it says in red letters on one of the black screens that port 0 hard drive has a error.

Also in windows the intel matrix storage console software shows the drive on port 0 as having an error. It keeps popping up with an yellow ballon from the start bar on the right saying that the raid is failing.

But i am not experiancing any problems i dont think, but i dont want to be sitting on a dud hard drive that could die on me and il loose 1000gb or stuff.

How do i work out if there is a problem or not?

I was going to rma it, i was told to install and run the tool from the western digital website. So i have installed the western digital data lifeguard diognostics tool but under the physical drive list it lists an ide drive with no model number and some weird chinese letters under the serial number and it say 0mb capacity. And it lists a WDC drive with 500gb capacity which is my external. However futher down under logical drives it shows the 1000GB c drive.

So how the hell do i test this hard drive?

No. I sure the weird chinese one is the raid array because if i review the test results it says its 1000GB so it must be. It passed both tests without any problems.

But the error on boot up is still there and the windows intel program telling me its failing.

Change the cable.

I was getting a drive error from the Intel RAID boot screen and from the Matrix Storage Console with my RAID last week. But both my Raptors were passing the WD tests, as well as successfully completing HD-Tach.

After a couple of days I started getting the tell-tale freezing in Windows, but again they were passing all tests. Decided to change the cable of the drive being labeled as dying, and haven't had any freezing since.

Tho both the Intel RAID boot screen and the Matrix Storage Console are still reporting an error. I'm not sure if this will continue until I recreate the RAID at some stage.

Kinda disappointed as I know I would get an upgrade if I was to RMA an 8mb 36gb Raptor :D
