Do I have a line fault? No dial tone connection dropped form 14 to 4mb

From Sunday my flats connection drop from the normal 14mb or so to only 4mb! I plugged the filter directly into the test socket and there’s not change, also there’s no dial tone when plugged in a phone in to the phone part of the filter.

I was going to talk to my flatmate about getting a fibre connection as there’s a good deal on , BT 52mb unlimited for £10.99pm but that’s offer is up in 2 days time. What’s my best course of action? Order the fibre and they fix the line when they have to install it and do the other stuff at the exchange ?
Or will the line have to be fixed first before anything else ?

Why would you think your phone line is normal if you have no dial tone? Report the voice fault and get that fixed before moving to FTTC.

Never said I though it was normal lol i was defo getting dial tone when I had to replace the socket months back. The only reason I brought a phone was to test the socket.
