I have just setup a Wireless network at my girlfriends house, on the D-Link router I have enabled WPA and firewall protection in the admin control panel but I'm unsure if this is going to fully protect the system, do I need software firewall also?

It really depends. WPA and the firewall in your router usually doesn't help much when it comes to a real attack. If you go to a lot of random sites then its best probably getting something like Kaspersky to be on the safe side.

Fair play, I'll leave it as it is seems pretty secure I have just performed the various firewall tests that are available online!

Yeah, it really is fine.

Who the hell needs outbound protection anyway?! Surely either common sense or decent antivirus sorts this.

And PAYING for a firewall? Don't get me started...

haha! It proper gets me annoyed when I have to go round friends to fix their virus infected PC's after the last time I told them to keep definitions up-to-date and scan regular.

One of my friends was like this but she's kept her new computer pristine :) She updates spywareblaster and her AV every week and scans Spybot + AV every week :D
