Hi guys, lately I have been feeling that my ring/pinky fingers have been cramping up/aching when using the computer for a couple of hours.
I am currently using a G500 and was wondering whether this could be the cause of my problem?

I think it maybe due to how I hold the mouse as I dont hold it with my full palm instead, I use my finger tips.

yea maybe.

It's hard to know if someone else needs a new mouse as it isn't a benchmarkable thing like cpus and gpus etc are.

Perhaps you would be more comfy with a larger mouse, though I think the G500 is a large one.

It is quite large, maybe too large for my liking.

I wouldn't say I have large hands but I do have quite long fingers....

Maybe a smaller/flatter mouse would work better, do you have any suggestions?

Yeah, they were the ones I was looking at as well as the Deathadder range.
Just need to pop into the purple store someday and hope that they have one in store for me to try.
Any other suggestions for mouse?

ive recently had the same thing started with a cheap low profile trust mouse but was cheap and nasty went to a g500 which is when my hand started to ache cramp just recently tried a death adder 2013 g4 was really comfy and a nice mouse tracking was good and smooth and the mouse moved really well but large and high and my hand cramped and ached with that also, sent that back and just got a zowie am its low profile smaller the tracking is really good and glides really smoothly has a lovely rubberised covering and comes with spare feet and my hand can hit the thumb buttons correctly and the aching in my hand has completly gone (i play for long durations at a time also).

i would recomend the zowie am.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep 'em coming :D

Btw, I don't really want to spend over £50 if possible on a mouse as I would like to invest on a mechanical keyboard as well.

I also looked at other SS mouse such as the Kinzue and senseis, are they any good?

My understanding is that the G500 is designed for palm grip as opposed to claw or fingertip. I've tried palm grip mice before, but find that while they're initially comfortable, that over extended use they cause discomfort. I'm currently using a Steelseries Sensei RAW which like the Zowie mice looks quite plain compared to a lot of handed and/or palm grip mice, however it's one of the most comfortable mice I've used.

have u used a zowie am?
im tempted to try the raw also just to see which is best tbh

See if you can test a RAT 5 to get a feel for how it sits on your hand, which should be within budget...

and for a keyboard (I'm looking as well for one) I found the Sharloon Skiller pretty decent at a decent price.

Isnt the RAT7 more customizable than the RAT5 with the thumb and pinky adjustments?
Logically speaking, the best mouse to go for would be the one you can mould into the shape of you hand am I right?

yea the rat 7 is very customisable but is outside your budget of £50 (hence rat 5, which might be ok). The RAT 9 is basically. a renamed RAT 7 + wireless.

They seem to be going for £65 new, but is it worth that much over the RAT5 for the amount of customization you get?
Another option would be to go second hand.

I had the same problem, I have broken my pinky finger a few times and it kind of hangs when using a mouse, so I gave the RAT 7 a go, and it is great. You can customise just about everything you need to for a more pleasurable experience. If you look around you might find one for £55 ish, I only paid that for mine. I would buy another one when it needs changing, unless someone else brings out something similar.

I think they've ramped up the dpi setting from 5 to 7 but realisticly anything above 2000dpi is more than enough....

weather the extra £20 is worth the customizing abilities would depend on how much the mouse fits your hand. yes the rat 7 would be my choice (well is my choice but no funds as yet) but then this is not my choice. My money is on rat 7 :)

Thanks for the replies guys.

Just got back from the purple shop and tried what they had in store.

The RAT7 they had wasnt adjusted to my liking which is probably the reason why it didnt feel comfortable at all.

The deathadder on the other hand, fit my hand perfectly.
