Do I need a New PSU for a Decent GPU?

I've caught the PC bug again after a few years away. The PC is a decent (this is the guts of it https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/t...ked-discounted-elite-tier-very-fast.18697252/) but hilariously I'm still running an AMD 6950 'GPU', which I just looked and was bought more or less 7 years ago to the day

Question is, do I need a new PSU to enable a GPU upgrade to something decent (probably a 1060/1070 depending on funds). I have this PSU which is also ancient but has worked flawlessly for years (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/b-gr...certified-modular-power-supply-bg-030-oc.html). Is it capable of powering a modern GPU? I think power wise its fine, but connection wise? Help appreciated.

The OCZ Modstream Pro was a pretty poor psu when it came out and HardOCP failed it in their review. Taking into account the poor build quality plus the age of the unit I would be replacing it sooner rather than later. I would be looking at the excellent Seasonic Focus Plus series which are gold rated, fully modular and have a 10 year warranty. The 750w version is a no brainer at the moment as it's the same price as the 650w version and is a lot of psu for the price.

No sense to start risking new parts with old PSU which was cheap PSU to start with in first place.
That PSU doesn't even have any cooling for those cheap TRec capacitors.
Myself would replace such after 3-4 years, they just aren't build to take lots of use.

If you want cheaper alternative to that Seasonic Focus Plus semi modular Antec Earthwatts Gold Pro has same insides.

Though 750W model isn't any cheaper than "original" with fully modular cabling, semi-passive cooling and 10 year warranty.
