Do I need a Software Firewall?

I have a Zyxel P660HW-D1 router which has a firewall.Zone Alarm is getting on my nerves,do I need it or my router's firewall is enough?

i use avast & my netgear 834 Firewall & yes the built in ms windows one ;-)

but i am using x64 bit pro sp2 what most firewalls dont like !!!.

p,s i do PC Support so i am very carefull what i download or run on this pc as i have another test pc for all my other downloads & that.... haha.

It all depends on who uses the computer. Hardware firewalls won't protect you against outgoing traffic from a dodgy trojan or other malicious software. For Joe public, this is a problem because they'll download anything onto the machine if it asks, but as long as you are vigiliant, and run a good AV, it's not really necessary.

ZoneAlarm causes a lot of people trouble but then again some people love it.

Comodo is so much better.

I've not used a software firewall for over 3 years. I just use the firewall on my router and a decent, regularly updated AV.

If you have setup the Zyxel properly then no.

As you're behind a router, i'd just use the inbuilt Windows firewall.

It's never given me any problems in all the time i've been using it (since it was launched).

Ensure it has the latest firmware. Only open ports you really need open etc etc.
