I'm doing a new install on a DS3. The BIOS gives a couple of new options I'm not used to haveing previously only used PATA drives.
Firstly, there is SATA port native mode with the options being native IDE mode and legacy IDE mode. The default is legacy but I wsa told that under Xp I can enable native?
Is this correct and what does it do over legacy?
Secondly, there is SATA/IDE ctrl mode with the options being IDE, AHCI and RAID/IDE. The default is IDE and I have left it as this. I believe that AHCI enables advanced SATA functions such as NCQ which I don't believe my drive (a Samsung SpinPoint P HD080HJ) supports anyway. Am I right at leaving it set at IDE? (I understand this is a setting that needs to be done before installing the OS).
Any and all help appreciated.
Thanks.
