I be getting this (ASUS RT-AC5300 Tri) ON sale and ready for the future when I upgrade.

Does it need to have an modem, with my IPS TalkTalk?

Right now it be replacing Technicolor TG588v V2 Router

Yes you will as this is purely a router. You will need either an OpenReach modem or something like a Draytek Vigor 130.

that's what I thought, I might contact my IPS to see if they will supply with one or not

that being said OpenReach modem says for fibre!

What type of internet do TalkTalk provide you? The router you say you have is a fibre modem/router hence @Steve_bullockuk recommending what he did. Openreach modem off eBay is your cheapest option and will work just fine.
