Do i need boxed or oem cpu?

Overclocking isn't really counted as "misuse" anymore. If the chip fails from none OC reasons and you can prove it (whilst having it OC'ed) you can still get another one. If it fails for OC reasons thats where the nice intel insurance comes in. (doubtful that my chip will ever fail from OC'ing but just incase...)

How do you qualify for the intel insurance?

Are all k chips covered?

Of course it's overclocking.
Of course you're running it out of spec even if you JUST raise the multiplier, what absurd thinking is overclocking is now inspec?

Ok well if the 1.52V is VID. Then at stock voltages a 3.5Ghz chip can hit 4.4Ghz (technically not overclocking if you just change a multiplier)

You are changing a parameter for performance, therefore it is overclocking.

Talk about splitting hairs, what has this forum come to!

Running extra volts don't increase its clock. (Not overclocking)
Also if people leave auto it will increase voltage.
Raises TDP.
If you didn't get out Intels insurance and you did clock a CPU and they refused an RMA, you'd be without a foot to stand on, but overclocking these days is seen as the norm, and generally RMA's will go through fine, but they're under no obligation to do so (Except maybe the bundle stuff etc)

Exactly this. Unless AMD and Intel employ ninjas to sneak in your rooms at night and check what cooler you have fitted they will never know.

Hmm... I always thought it was strange seeing a guy clinging on the outside of my window with 'Ninja inside' written on his top. The fact I saw him means he wasn't a very good ninja anyway.
