We'll ive built my first computer *YAY* :D
I've got my OLD windows xp disk to try reboot but its just not having none of it, blue screening every time i try... :(
So i've tried everything, any suggestions or shall i just get the £40 1tb Harddrive and try again? OR is it something else :O

i have taken an old HDD with windows 7 on it from my old comp and put it in a complete new build, but trying to boot with xp disk because i havent got any others to boot from.

Did you format it before you took it out your old build and put it in the new build?
Can you stick it in another pc and format it?if you can install should be fine after that

Have u changed ur boot set up in bios? Boot from CD- HDD. When u boot from the cd it will load up some options, like install xp, recover and stuff like that!. You want to install xp then it will give u a option do you want to format hdd and delete partition, delete the partition then creator new partition then format the hdd then you can install xp.

The most probably fix would be reformatting it using another PC (OR, boot from your XP disc, then format the drive using a disc)

Found this on another site.

Re: Installing Windows XP: STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)

On start up , press Del to enter BIOS
Expand the "Drives" section
Go to "SATA Operation"
Change this from "RAID Auto/AHCI" to "RAID Auto/ATA"

Don't know if it will help but worth a shot.

Like I said. Go into your bios and change you boot from hdd-cd to cd-hdd save setting. Have the xp disk in the drive let it boot from disk then you have the options what I said. don't do a quick format.

well how can i boot from the xp disk then format the drive using it :S

Put your XP disc in your CD Drive, then you have to press DEL or F2 (Or it may be some other button to load your BIOS)

Once your BIOS is loaded you will be faced with a screen generally with blue colours in it, you'll need to find a section about 'Boot Order' or 'Boot Priority', you'll need to make your CD Drive the top one (For controls BIOS generally has a key of how to do some things)

There may be an easier way of doing this, when your computer starts up, it may have something saying about change the boot order, press whatever button it says (Could be F12) and then choose your CD Drive.

Well ive tryed master and slave drives booting from disk, and blue screening each time i believe im going to have to try fully reformat my HD on another computer. It seems like the only way at the moment... :(

no, try listening.
have your two drive, your hard drive in one IDE and your cd in another.
Change your boot priority in bios so it will try to boot from your cd drive first.
save and restart the computer making sure the xp disc is in the right cd drive.
it should boot to the windows xp setup and load file's then "start windows"
it will then ask you the drive you want to install xp on. delete any current partitions and create one of your own to install xp on. format it either ntfs or fat32 make sure you dont use quick format. then it should boot from your hard drive and follow the xp setup.

if this doesn't work try getting a new copy of xp or a copy of windows 7.

if your still having problems after all of this tell me witch piont it blue screens at?

ive also had problems with windows xp setup not working, i found it to be a bad stick of ram.

hope this helped, Zac
