Do I need to change?

I have 2 x 160GB Diamondmax 9 sata drives running in stripped Raid. And 1 x 300GB which I'm not using at the minute.

I have questions about these drives with the new build I'm planning.

New build will be:

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3P
or

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS4

C2D E6600

8800 GTS

Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-5300C3 667MHz Dual Channel Kit (BL2KIT12864AA663)

1. Would I get much better performance if I bought 2 new sata II drives and ran them stripped? Or would it not make much difference?

2. If I keep the 2 x 160GB ones I have. Could I then have the 300GB in mirror raid with the 2 x 160GB in stripped raid?

3. If I can't mirror the 300GB one, and had it as a drive to hold all my mp3's and games. Would the games run slower because they are on a different drive to Windows XP?

1) Yes but how much difference is debateable.

2) You can do some wacky things with Intel Matrix RAID and I'm not sure if that's one of them. If it is I wouldn't recommend it, by creating a RAID1 array you'll limit the read/write speed to the slowest device in the miror which defeats the purpose of the RAID0 stripe.

3) Yes but not because they're on a different drive to XP, they'll load slower because the single drive is slower than the RAID0 array.
