Do I need to upgrade my PSU?

I've had the current PSU (OCZ 600W) in my PC for a good few years now and was wandering if it would be worth buying a new one? I've had a number of odd issues with my PC recently and whilst searching for an answer there seems to be a theme of having a good quality PSU. Not sure if OCZ fits that bracket.

PC Spec
1 SSD
1 HDD
Asus Sonar
1060GTX
5 fans

Also, not sure if it makes a difference but the 1060 takes a 6 pin power cable and I'm using an 8 pin from the PSU. I believe there is a difference in Watt rating? But whether that impacts on GPU behaviour, I don't know.

I would have to say yes. OCZ were a bit of a mixed bag on here, most owners either loved or hated them. They went the way of the dodo a few years back & some firm bought the PSU part of of OCZ (can't remember who it was)

Replace it with this:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £80.45
(includes shipping: £10.50)

I've bought 2 of these & both do the job just fine (quiet too)

Some of the higher-end OCZ units were decent, but a lot of their units weren't that great. Had to get rid of mine when it started producing wildly out-of-spec voltages. The company did indeed go bankrupt (amidst some dodgy accounting I might add) - Toshiba bought the storage division and "Firepower Technology Inc." bought the PSU department. Best bet is to replace it, especially if it's getting on a bit.

The Superflower Golden Green HX series are decent PSUs, at least the ones I've used have been.

For the same price as the HX550W, you can also get one of these:

The TruePower Classic is a decent PSU based on a seasonic design at a reasonable price.

Most PSUs now come with 6+2-pin connectors, so you can either use the cable as an 8-pin or 6-pin. The card will only draw whatever power it's designed to. Just because you plug in a higher rated cable doesn't mean that the card will draw extra power.

It's a good choice. Just be aware that you can't turn the LEDs off - some people like that, others don't. Other than that, it's a great PSU.
