Do i pick the sensible option?

why would anyone ever need a "battle ready" sword anyway

anyway you could buy a gun from some dodgy man in the dodgy pub for that price

For Martial Arts. Especially Tameshigiri practice. I have a very expensive blunt edged Iaito - that if they try and take off me I'll go to jail that I use. Also have a sharp edged tanto that is used quite a bit and a wakizashi that isn't used so much.

so you can buy 'battle ready' swords without any proper checks but its illegal for me to own a Handgun even though i met all the security and health requirements?

this country is a joke.:(

Speak for yourself...
Ok typical, there's one ninja on the forums and I find him :p

But most are just bespectacled long haired nerds who walk around in full length black leather coats trying to pretend they are in the Matrix :D

I don't care if someone thinks it's pointless, so are many things, it's a completely subjective matter. I want one, and that's all that matters. The money isn't so much of an issue i suppose, i could pay for it in one month, but would be poor until next pay day. All the "swords are pointless so you don't need one" arguments are getting very boring now. I suppose what i'll do is try and save what i can, and then pay off the card over a month or two.

Swords are pointless and I find it disturbing that you want to keep a weapon in your house. I haven't posted before about swords but that is my opinion and i am entitled to it. If you don't want to hear it then don't post threads like this.

But so are posters/paintings etc.

Swords are an artform with a purpose and great history. They look great and the skill involved in making them is simply stunning.

No, don't be sensible. If you want it and can afford it, which you've said you can in a month, then buy it.

Although I would personally save for as long as possible, if you could afford it in a month you shouldn't have to save for too long (without starving).

Here we go. Something does not have to have a use to be liked. This is a very important thing some people need to understand.

Flowers, photos, music, art, paintings etc etc.

I could look at a well made sword and marvel at the craftsmanship. If I find that entertaining then who are you to say I am wrong.

I am also thinking of picking up one of these before the ban.

However from what I heard on the news this stuff will still be illegal, they are classed as replicas, although they are real swords. I think all that is going to be legal are the really old or proper £1000+ jap samurai swords.

I really hate the UK law. As much as people slate the US, they seem to understand the importance of free speech. If I want to have a sword in my house, on land that I have earned, and this is now somewhere that no one can enter without my permission, surely I should be able to what I want. Shoot targets or chop stuff up with my sword. If someone breaks in while it is in my hand they get shot/stabbed. Seriously where is the problem??? (other than the fact that people don't simply use them within their house and this is kind of why I agree with anti gun laws but there should be some way of being allowed a gun for use on your own land/private club.)

Can't you people just be happy with an axe which is legal to buy and not the best part of a grand? It's much better for swinging round and chopping stuff up as an added bonus.
