Do I really need to upgrade my 3750k to run fire?

Currently have a 280x card and am considering getting another. However I've read a few posts where people say 4 core cpu's will bottleneck xfire.

Is that really true? I don't want to have to upgrade my CPU if I can help it, as its a great bit of kit and currently runs at 4.6Ghz.

Just looking at the 4770k, but need a micro ATX board as I just bought an Aerocool DS case. Currently running with an Asus Maximus V Gene board:)
