Woke this morning to find my rear tyre totally flat, i have managed to fill it back up, but i fear theres a slow puncture.

Now we have a account with kwik fit for tyres etc, so im wondering if they do puncture repairs, or if they just change tyres? Tyre has loads of tread so id rather avoid having to have a new one on the back.

I think they do, but knowing Kwik Fit they will force you into buying a new tyre even if the old one is repairable.

They will tell you that it is unrepairable if it is anywhere near the edge, which is not always true

I had a very slow puncture that my garage said could be fixed but they couldnt do it.

Took the car into Kwik Fit left it with them and asked them to fix the puncture. Came back and I had two new rear tyres... both had only been changed 2 months previous.

Steer clear.. unless your taking a company car there or something and not paying the bill.

Surprise surprise, its too near the edge to be fixed.

What annoys me is that i need two new tyres on the front, but nooooo i just had to go and get a puncture on the back.

They havent got any in stock so im going to have to go back tomorrow now.

Que sera sera!

Too near the edge according to Kwik Fit, or it's actually too near the edge? Kwik Fit will pretty much always tell you it's not repairable, even if it it. You got a photograph?

Search for local independent tyre fitters in your area. Yell.com or something.

I agree. The local boys near us are excellent. The only problem i've heard from there is that a few of the 'young uns' are not so careful with the air gun and alloys. You get a nice inner line in the bolt holes (dont know the technical term if there is one!)

i had to get new tyre couple months ago , nail was around an inch from the sidewalls ,blody loads of tread left too :( gutting i know at £160 a tyre (GS3's) , but safety is no1 :)

The nail is maybe an inch and half from the edge.

Unfortunately as its a company car we have to use kwik fit fitter, absolutely no way im leaving my car with them, i saw the young lads eyes light up like a xmas tree when i pulled up.I even drove it into the bay myself!

I might take the tyre off them and see if i can get it repaired and bang it on ebay as a part worn.

check the yellow pages for a place that does Hot Vulcanising repairs. The machinery cost about £500 to buy but Kwik Fit would rather sell £500 of tyres

If the tyre has been totally flat, you will probably need a replacement as the sidewall will be damaged.

This happened to me, i didnt realise one of my rear's was totally flat i drove some what 2 miles down the road to the petrol station as i was low as i entered i started to lose the back end got it back, checked and it was flat. I took it to national tyres. They said it would have been repairable but the sidewall had been weakend.
