Do multiple claims have an accumulative effect on no-claims?

Having driven for more than 10yrs without a single accident I had a couple of stupid incidents at the beginning of April within a few days of each other.

Firstly I clipped the security card reader at the exit of my local supermarket. It was really stupid, I was attempting enter the exit as we were advised that the entrance gate wasn't working. I got the angle wrong and bumped into the reader. I left my details with the supermarket, but I didn't hear from them for a while.

Secondly I scraped someone's car, parking in the library. I paid the lady's garage directly to avoid impacting my no claims. They have posted me a receipt, and I was £250 out of pocket.

My insurance company contacted me this week, to let me know that the supermarket have made a claim. They don't know how much it is yet. When they find out I will be given the option to pay up front again and avoid impacting my no claims.

Assuming that I do get my insurance to pay for the supermarket claim, would it be possible or worthwhile to claim for the second accident? £250 didn't seem worthwhile consuming for initially, but if I am losing my no closings anyway then maybe it would be a good idea to cousin for it now. I was wondering if multiple accidents will have an accumulative effect on the loss of no claims?

Don't claim for that. If insurance haven't been notified at all then I'd leave that buried and done with.

Though I suppose it may be different in your case, age (I'm 22) etc.

In November I wrote off a £15000 car, renewals went from £800 to £2400 on my Impreza..
In December somebody drove into me and did my wing, wheel and front bumper in. I *notified* my insurance and then claimed off the 3rd parties insurance.. However I must inform insurers of that incident, despite not claiming, and that pushed my renewals to £3900 on the Impreza (hence the sale).

FWIW: You don't lose all your no claims bonus do you?
I had 4 prior to my write-off and now have 2 -- or is that an Admiral thing?

Insanely honest of you! :p anything to do with damaging a supermarket I don't expect many people would own up!

Not so much honesty as the fear that someone else would report it! Middle of the day with lots of witnesses. I am slightly surprised /annoyed that they are pursuing a claim though I thought that they might just take the hit (e excuse the pun), but it may be a term of their insurance.

I don't think you'll be able to make a claim on the second one /after/ you've already paid out for it, to be honest.

I have a question about this as I had a minor bump this year and lost 2 years similar to you (had 4)

Now when my renewal comes through, will I still be on 2 or will that go up to 3?

Had I not had an incident I would have been on 5. If I stay on 2 come renewal time then that means I have lost out on 3 years!

Have I got that right?

If they do the same as they did to me, you'll be on 2.

I was told effectively the year of the crash won't count, and you lose 2 off your existing.

It's not just any loss of no claims but you'd then have to declare 2 claims which is obviously going to make a difference to any future quotes.

Leave the one they don't know about buried.
