Do new motherboards/hard drives need SATA drivers?

If you use XP SP2 it will pick up SATA drives without any extra drivers as long as the drives are not set to AHCI or RAID mode in the BIOS. Vista may be better but I have no desire to find out.

on my new mobo and hard drive it needed the driver of the mobo disc, so as long as you install all the drivers will be fine
