I don't know, looking at his other videos (yes, he has a whole channel full of them), he's in to some crazy tinkering so it wouldn't surprise me if he did exactly what you say!

There is a genuine air of Alan Partridge to this guy.

Isn't the stuff he thinks is "limescale" mostly leached plastic from his (I'm guessing ancient) tubing? Either way, It makes me feel a lot better about my loop, especially since I have just been looking at some incredible build logs that made me feel like I hadn't put enough effort into my build haha.
