I did at 3am last night and almost ended up killing myself by almost running into a lorry near Carlisle. Phew

In future, forget about completing your journey in proper time and take a bloody break. You're not just endangering yourself but other road users.

it's easy to do.
just remember that micro sleeps can, and do, kill people.
i've done the same thing myself because i hadn't realised that it's better to get there late than not at all.
take it easy out there mate and if you feel the old "lead eyelids" then stop somewhere for a swift 30 mins of kip.

If you do late night motorway trips often, might be an idea to get one of those alarms that buzz at you when your head tilts at a weird angle.

They aren't brilliant as they also buzz when you move about, but motorways are so damn boring it's not surprising people fall asleep.

Nothing beats taking regular breaks, although clarkson did try that ***** stuff.............. might be worth a try. :o

I do a lot of miles and often find I'm getting a bit dozy (normally happens about 1 hour into an early morning run). I just pull off and set the alarm on my phone for 15 mins and have a kip.

15 mins doesn't make a difference either way in terms of getting somewhere but makes a BIG difference in terms of your concentration levels.

Singing to a CD keeps me wide awake on crazy-long journeys. Nothing else even comes close.

Which is annoying because I hate singing.

I play a game of "I Spy" with the kids. When I'm driving one up, I'll slam on the music. Nice chillout for daytime trips, something heavy for the nighttime sloggs.

i used to travel from aldershot to durham everyweekend and it used to kill me, i used to have a sleep before i left aldershot, and i had no choice than to stop about 4 hours into the run to have a kip, somtimes would be 30 mins from home but i had to.
