Ok so here is what I'm trying to do.

I have a Dell 3007WFP native res is 2560 x 1600

Some games I have problems with getting widescreen (ie not supported correctly BF2142, DOW DC i.e.well they do support it kinda but not properly so you lose the top and bottom, or just weirdness i.e. Chronicles of Riddick) so as a workaround I thought run the games at 4:3 aspect at closest supported res 2048 x 1536 and select the do not scale option so you end up with black borders but the images is nice and crisp. I cannot get this to work with my 3007WFP has anyone tried to do this as certain games are unplayable at 2560 x 1600 (Chronicles of Riddick looks bizzare and SLI just does not work with this game and my cards, 2048 x 1536 on a single GPU is no problem) so if I select 2048 x 1536 the Nvidia card scales the image to fit and it looks blurry and nasty.

So to test I attached my older 2007FP native 1600 x 1200 then set the resolution to 1280 x 1024 and checked Do Not Scale. Click apply it works so why not with the 3007WFP

So what the hell is going on when using the 3007WFP anything to do with the card being in dual link mode on the DVI connector? The only other difference I can think of is that the 2007 has a Display scaler in the panel whereas the 3007 does not.

So people suggested creating a custom resolution but I can't seem to get that to work.

Any help would be appreciated as this is driving me nuts.

Thanks

There are ways to make some games that dont support a WS resolution run in a WS res. Try this for BF2142:

Create a new Shortcut and right click it, click on properties and where it says target add somthing that resemblse the following

"C:\Battlefield 2142 Beta\" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

There is a gamelists here: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php?title=Master_Games_List_-_B

There are lots of ways "around" most games that are unsupported. As for your aspect ratio scaling I have no idea, I have a 2007WFP and in my 6600gt's options I can select either "Display adapter scaling", "centered output", "monitor scaling", or "fixed aspect ratio scaling", there is no option to not scale at all. You could try playing games in windowed mode, that way you can use any res and it won't scale them.

yeah I am using that cmd hack for battlefiled problem is it should do a hor + and increase FOV instead it does a Vert - so you actually see less than if you were playing on 4:3 screen (Dice decided it would give widescreen users too much of an advantage).

I am playing a few games windowed Riddick and DOW DC at the moment but it would be nice to get this working properly.

On a plus note tried oblivion last night omfg its amazing everything maxed at 2560 x 1600 with 16QAA and 16AF with transparency Super Sampling and Vsync on just locks at 60FPS sometimes 30 with lots of spells being cast.

Nvidia 96.89 Drivers allow do not scale as an option and it works.

Nvidia have hosed the 97 series in someway.

97.02,97.28, 97.44 and 97.92 the do not scale option is broken. Fingers crossed they fix it soon.

Anyway just in case anyone else was suffering I though I'd let you know.
